KEY FEATURES OF FLOOR SAWING

  • A heavy-duty, quick and efficient method that can cut up to 500mm deep.

  • Floor sawing can be used internally or externally.

  • Water is used during cutting to cool the diamond blade, which also minimises the amount of dust produced during operation.

WHAT IS FLOOR SAWING?

Floor sawing is typically used to cut horizontal flat surfaces such as concrete slabs, roads, bridge decks and car parks to facilitate the removal of structural sections or to form expansion joints. Floor saws are self-propelled.

An operator walks behind the machine controlling the speed and depth of cutting.

Diesel or electrically powered machines can be used to cut depths of up to 500mm.

HOW DOES FLOOR SAWING WORK?

Floor sawing systems are made up of circular, diamond-tipped blades, mounted on a spindle and powered by electric, petrol or diesel engines.

During cutting, our operative uses the controls to guide the machine as it moves along the surface. This allows us to quickly and efficiently create the cuts required.

As friction causes heat, water is used within the floor saw to cool the blade. This also helps to minimise dust.
